Performing Arts
Learning to stand up, perform, and share your talents with others is not an easy task but we believe those opportunities help prepare our students for successful futures. Many of our students have great talent and passion for performance and we offer a growing number of opportunities for them.
Individual School Performance Opportunities
Many of our schools offer their own theatre experiences such as kinder-drama programs, elementary theatre troupes, middle school theatre companies, high school drama clubs, and high school musical companies.
Stark County Catholic Elementary Schools Theatre Program
Stark County Catholic Elementary Schools (SCCES) offers a Stark-County-wide Theatre Program for students in grades 1-8. The program is open to any student who attends one of our Stark County Catholic Schools. These programs offer students educational and performance opportunities in theatre, music, and dance. The Drama Club of SCCES provides three opportunities for theatrical expression: Fall After-School Drama Club, Spring Musical Workshop on Saturdays, and Summer Drama Camp.
Stark County Catholic Schools Theatre Program
Beginning in 2017, Central Catholic and St. Thomas Aquinas High Schools joined together to launch a full musical, under the direction of professional theatre experts, on the stage of the Canton Palace Theatre. In 2018, students in grades 4-8 in our Catholic elementary schools were invited to audition to join the cast marking the start of a collaborative theatre experience. A highlight of this experience is that in addition to the performance of the show for the public, students in our elementary schools are treated to a special, private performance which includes a question and answer of our cast and crew after the show.
