College Credit Plus

College Credit Plus (CCP) program

College Credit Plus (CCP) is a state-funded program that allows qualified students in grades 7-12 to earn college credits while still in high school. Students can receive both high school and college credit for the courses that they take through CCP.

CCP classes allow students to get a head start on their college transcript and college GPA. To qualify:
  1. First, a Letter of Intent needs to be signed and returned to your guidance counselor/college advisor.
  2. Next, private school parents and students are required to establish a SAFE account through the Ohio Department of Education in order to apply for funding. A video explaining the funding application process may be found here.
  3. Finally, the student needs to meet the criteria for admission to the college and complete the application process. The ACT/SAT is a required component of the application. If a student has not taken these tests, a placement test will be required.
Central Catholic students have multiple options for college credits:
  • Offered on Central Catholic’s campus: CCP Political Science (adjunct teacher from Stark State College)
  • Online through any college or university
  • On the campus of any college or university
A common concern with college courses is the question of whether or not course credit will transfer once a student formally enrolls in the institution of their choice, after graduation from high school. A simple way to resolve this is by using Transferology, an online site designed to show students exactly what courses will transfer to their desired four-year institution. As always, students are encouraged to discuss this matter with their college advisor.

College Credit Plus can be a fantastic option for Central Catholic families and we are happy to help families decide if CCP is right for their students.
