Central Catholic’s Vinny DiRuzza signs with Case Western Reserve University

Central Catholic High School is proud to announce that senior, Vinny DiRuzza has signed with Case Western Reserve University. While at Case Western Reserve, DiRuzza will be a member of the football team and major in Aerospace Engineering. 
 
DiRuzza has been a standout student and athlete while at Central Catholic. He maintains a 4.2 GPA and was a member of the football and track teams, National Honor Society, Student Council, and Crusaders for the Community. DiRuzza also earned the Rotary Youth Leadership Award and several athletic honors for football such as Academic All-Ohio, team captain and Honorable Mention All-County. 
 
“I chose to sign with Case Western because of its outstanding engineering program,” DiRuzza said. He adds that the university has a highly competitive football team that won its conference in 2019 and the university “felt like home” the moment he stepped on campus. 
 
Central Catholic High School is a private, Catholic school in Canton, Ohio that serves students in grades 9-12. Central Catholic has a proud athletics history that has culminated into 24 state championships and runner-up honors. Success in athletics is reflective of the school’s tradition of excellence since it was established in 1905. The school maintains 100% graduation rates, 99% college attendance rates, academic test scores well above the county, state and national averages, and fields a vibrant athletic and arts program. 99% of their students participate in at least one extracurricular activity, 83% of their students participate in athletics, and more than 60% of their students play more than one sport. Central Catholic believes that their athletic program plays an important role in fulfilling its mission to develop its students in faith, academic excellence, leadership, and commitment to service.
