Central Catholic’s Claire Eberhardt has committed to attend John Carroll, where she will study pre-med and biology and compete on the university’s women’s soccer and track and field teams.

Eberhardt was a four-year letterwinner on Central’s girls soccer team and served as team captain. She was the team’s most valuable player last fall while earning first team Stark County and second team Tri-County honors.

A three-time MVP in track, Eberhardt qualified for the state meet in the 400-meter dash last year and as a member of the Crusaders’ 3,200-meter relay team in 2018 and 2019. The relay finished seventh in the state last year.

“I am excited about this amazing opportunity to play at the next level while pursuing my dream of becoming a pediatrician at JCU,” Eberhardt said.

Eberhardt holds a 4.54 grade-point average, is an officer for the National Honor Society and student council treasurer. She was a 2019 Buckeye Girls State representative for Central, the school’s 2018 representative for the HOBY Leadership Program and the 2017 Diocese of Youngstown Teacher’s Confederation scholarship winner.

Eberhardt is also active in the community. She serves as public relations chair for Crusaders for the Community and helped raise more than $7,000 for the Leukemia Foundation in the Student of the Year program on Team CureSaders.
